Chemotherapy

After a long period of deliberation, we decided not to subject Little Buddy to chemotherapy. I want the final chapter of his life to be carried out in a safe place and as uneventful as possible. He’s old and he deserves to die peacefully. He does not deal well with medical treatment and I think it would be unfair to force him to endure injections and fighting with pills just so I get a few more months out of him. He has no sense of the future and prolonging his life would be doing it for our benefit, not his. He’s doing well, despite his condition. He still walks 1.5 miles – with gusto – every day and eats well. We’re going to start him on some stomach medication for the vomiting and steroids to hopefully decrease the size of his lymph nodes. There isn’t a whole lot more we can do.

Here’s Sinbad with his favorite toy, a purple monkey my mom gave him.

Sounds like a good decision. I’m glad he’s still walking and enjoying life. Maybe he’ll defy some odds and surprise everyone. I love the picture of Sinbad. The color contrasts between the black, purple and red are stunning.

Thanks Lisa! he’s still in such good condition, I wouldn’t be surprised a bit if he lasted for quite some time.
Sinbad is totally obsessed with that monkey. One of these days i’ll have to do a video of him loving all over it. He rubs his face all of it, rolls on it…he’s one weird dog.

You made the right decision Melody, it’s the very embodiment of compassion. It couldn’t have been easy. I hope the time you have left with him is as uneventful as it can be.
