Lyrebird

David Attenborough in New Guinea talking about birds is all the TV I’ll ever need. This is a clip from the The Life of Birds series and one that you simply must see. The extraordinary part comes about 2/3 of the way through.

Other worldly, I swear. That it starts with a camera shutter and ends with a chainsaw makes the whole thing seem like a prank, but I know it’s true. The Life of Birds is an outstanding series, so much so that I bought a copy. Attenborough’s the ultimate naturalist. Didn’t you see a Lyre bird in you Aussie travels?

I have the DVDs too and never tire of them. I saw a bower bird when I was there which was one of the highlights of my whole life. What a fascinating bird! I wish I’d had better camera equipment at the time.

Ahhh, that’s right, it was a bower bird. The chainsaw and car alarm coming out of the lyre bird still makes me shake my head. It’s a good thing Noah managed to get a lyre bird on the ark is all I have to say.

Whoa! That was just awesome! Isn’t David Attenborough the best?!?
